Buy College Textbooks Online and Save Hundreds of Dollars

Buying textbooks is one of the most important parts of college life. Most of the students stand for hours in a local bookstore for buying college textbooks. Thankfully now various alternative options are available. One way is buying online.

College textbooks cost a fortune. With each college textbooks costing more than $100 each, each student has to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on textbooks each semester. But with little bit of planning you can spend very little on textbooks. While this does require a bit of planning, it can be done!

There are many sites that sell college textbooks online. If you decide to buy textbooks online - you should keep a few things in mind. Make sure you order your textbooks early so that you can get them in time for class; allow for out-of-stock items and shipping delays, and be sure to choose the expedited shipping option. When comparing the cost of textbooks, include the sales tax and shipping cost also. And one more important think is get the right textbook (check the ISBN number located on the back of every book) because it is much less convenient to return items to an online bookstore.

There is significant price difference between a local bookstore and online booksellers. It would be better if you do little comparison shopping before you buy. Most of the online stores are much cheaper than local bookstore.

Find out if you want the textbook or it's just recommended. Obviously it is important that you have to buy the book for a class but a recommended book is just that you may or may not be helpful in your studies. Wait until you've begun the course before you decide whether or not you need the recommended textbook.

However, we've compiled some online textbook buying tips that you should keep in mind. Not only will these tips save you time, but they will also save money.

1.    Order you book 1-2 weeks prior to your class start date. Or request expedited shipping for faster delivery.
2.    Before ordering match ISBN numbers on the textbook. Be sure you buy the correct textbook; get the ISBN (a 10 or 13 digit number on the back of book) online.
3.    Buy brand new textbooks, as old ones can tear off within a few months or days.
4.    Purchase international copies: By buying new edition you will get most up-to-date version of your textbook. If your professor has specified that you have to buy new edition - it is a requirement.
5.    Buying new college textbooks helps college students to underline, highlight and make notes in the margins of their textbooks. This means that if you buy new textbook, you won't have to worry about being distracted by what someone else thought was important.

photography history
where can i find a good site with a lot of information on the history of photography without buying a book?

history of fashion photography
how it has impacted the world
only fashion photography please

Try looking at the alternative photography WWW site listed below. While oriented to people taking art photos with antiquated chemical processes, it lists some books you should be able to get through inter-library loan at your local public or university library. Also look at the site's links.

Search on "Louis Daguerre", "Niepce heliograph bitumen", and "Herschel cyanotype".

There's a Time-life book titled "Mathew Brady and his World". Lot of Civil War and later photos, quite interesting if you're interested in old fashions. Again that can be had through inter-library loan if your local library doesn't have it on the shelf.

Time-Life published quite a few fashion photography books over the years. Again look at your library.

History of Photography Paper.... HELP?

Hey guyz, I have to hand in a paper due in within a week on the history of photography. I need to write about the historical part as well as the technological part that led to the development of the digital camera we use today. I'm kinda confused on where to begin. U guyz got any tips?
PS: Thnx in advance!! ^ ^

Start with the invention of the camera.
Then follow the major breakthroughs since then.
Devote one paragraph to each breakthrough, and use the links between paragraphs to discuss the problems that each new paper type had.
Considering there's been about 5 major breakthroughs since photography was invented, that should get you a decent paper.

HP Digital Cameras - History and Beyond

However, the firm provides a one-stop-shop for all digital facilities. The company has made a large number of innovations over the years. Let us view the interesting history of this company.

Started by two Stanford University graduates, Dave Packard and Bill Hewlett in 1938 in a rented garage with a mere working capital of $538 - Hewlett Packard is a multi-billion dollar company today. With net revenues of $7.2 billion in the year 2004 and over 28,000 employees all across the globe, HP has come a long, long way.

Both Hewlett and Packard being students of electrical engineering, started with the invention of a resistance-capacity audio oscillator. They continued to make similar test and measurement products, and by 1942, had constructed a 10,000 square foot company- owned building in Palo Alto, California. One interesting fact to note is that they decided the name of the company on the basis of just tossing a coin!

In the 50's, the company continued to grow dynamically, making major advances in microwave instrumentation and in the year 1962, Hewlett Packard appeared in Forbes Top 500 List of Companies for the first time at number 460.

After this, there was no turning back for HP. The company went from strength to strength, constantly innovating new technologies - whether it was in the field of medicine, laser technology, computers, printers, microprocessors etc.

After HP entered the consumer market with its computers and allied products, it also recently decided to introduce its own digi cameras as well. In fact, in order to make its mark in digital cameras, HP has invested nearly $300 million in its consumer advertising for the same. This is the largest investment made by the company in advertising till today. HP believes that digital photography is a booming business and is slowly going to take over the film camera market. The trend to purchase digital cameras is spreading all across Asia and Europe - and HP does not want to be left behind.

Hence HP says that it is the only company which is providing a one-stop-shop for all digital camera users. You can buy a HP digital camera, take snaps, and then load them onto your HP computer and take printouts (you guessed it) from your HP printer as well. And even the paper and ink used in your printer, is yes, HP again.

HP has yet to make a niche for itself in digi cameras, however, with its current aggressive marketing strategies and brand image, it is most likely that the company will surpass all market expectations as it has done in the past already. Here is a list of the latest cameras by HP:

HP Photosmart 945 series and HP Photosmart R707 digital camera series: The camera for all users with an optional dock, can be used for slideshows as well.

HP Photosmart R717 series: Slightly advanced series with digital zoom and Real Life technology.

HP Photosmart R607 series: With 4.1 nega pixels, this series is good for home use.

HP Photosmart M407 series, HP Photosmart M417 Digital Camera series, HP Photosmart M307 digital camera series, HP Photosmart M22 Digital Camera series and HP Photosmart 435 digital camera series: all these series have 3-5 mega pixels and are nice and cheap for users.

Helicopter or Fixed Wing Aircraft – a Stable Platform for Aerial Photography?

Fixed wing aircraft

Advantages

  • More economical –lower running costs.

  •

  • Less vibration.

  •

  • Good endurance.

  •

  • Plenty of space for equipment.

  •

    Disadvantages

  • Wing tip or strut can get in the way.

  •

  • Continuously moving.

  •

  • Can be difficult to position.

  •

    Rotary Aircraft

    Advantages

  • Can hover – remain stationary in the air.

  •

  • Can operate very low to the ground.

  •

  • Greater maneuverability on the spot.

  •

  • Easy to get into the right position for the required shot.

  •

    Disadvantages

  • High cost per hour.

  •

  • Smaller lower cost helicopters have greater vibration.

  •

  • Lower cost helicopters such as the R22 have very little room for equipment.

  •

It is clear that both Rotary and Fixed wing aircraft have their advantages and disadvantages and although small rotary aircraft can have comparable running costs they also have reduced cruised speed. Therefore it would take longer to get from site to site which is where economies of scale can be obtained. Therefore if the company has a planned route where there are many sites far apart a more economically cruising aircraft such as a Cessna 172 may be the best option. This type of planning is often the case where Oblique Aerial Photography is required for the commercial property market and large companies will have many sites far apart.

Survey Photography is often undertaken using fixed wing aircraft with a vertical camera. This is because most surveys are required along a fixed route such as a pipe line or a road network and require vertical photography through the bottom of the fuselage of the aircraft.

Event Aerial Photography often benefits from using a rotary aircraft as the ability to remain relatively stationary over the ground allows continuous coverage of one spot. This also allows the aircraft to land nearby in a temporary airfield to refuel before continuing coverage.

History of Photography in a Glance

A form of art like no other, a photograph conveys messages and emotions without need for words. Today, the function of photograph is limitless. It seeks attention, provokes emotions and amazes the viewer with breathtaking images. Having such profound impact in our lives, it is justified that we should know how this form of art took its place in human history as an indispensable media. To understand the history of photography, we will start by looking back at the 19th century.

Photography took on a humble beginning when the term was coined by Sir John F.W. Herschel in 1839. A combination of the Greek words ‘photos’ and ‘graphein’, it relates to the use of light or radiation to record images. In the very same year, the first photo of a person was produced by Louis-Jacques-Mandé Daguerre, a chemist and French painter. However, the first experiences of photography can be traced back to 1827 when French inventor Joseph Nicéphore Niépce made the first photographic image on a metal plate.

Since then, there have been a series of firsts in the history of photography. Man have successfully captured the first lightning and war photo in 1847 and produced the first color photo in 1861. The earliest history of cinematography (the act of filmmaking) was said to have begun in the year 1878 when the image sequences were successfully produced. Varying from nature to human and objects, photography was used to capture almost anything.

1991 marks a historic milestone in the history of photography when the first digital still camera was made available commercially by Kodak. Since then, there has been overwhelming response and the demand for such cameras soared. We are the witnesses to the increasing capability of this image-capturing device. The history of photography will never been the same again with the development of portable and increasingly advanced cameras.

    Digital Photography Timeline

    1
    digital photography timeline
Which topic should I do for my history Assignment? (context of twentieth century australia)?

    - Art, Film, Photography
    - Media (including propaganda, political advertising and cartoons)
    - War
    - Fashion
    - Indigenous Australians
    - National Identity
    - The role of women
    - Politics
    - Protest movements
    - Gay & Lesbian rights
    - Food

I've got to choose one from the above, and it can be presented in:
    - Essay
    - Powerpoint
    - Film
    - Play
    - Annotated timeline
    - Poster
    - Poem/Song
    - Recipe collection and sample dish
    - Folio (eg. Photographs, artwork, etc.)
    - Oral history interview (digital recording or transcript)

    Thanks guys!

Food sounds work but might be easy too... Politics I'm sure are the hardest ever so don't go there. Not sure how much info on the gay thing you'll find either. I think either the role of women (they have their own paragraphs and sections in my history book) or the indigenous Australians that sound cool. What an interesting thing to write about the country that started out as a dumping ground for criminals. (Although many 'crimainals' weren't really actual criminals.)

what historical events may have impacked on the photographs taken and what impact did this photograph have?

give a period of photography, eg: 1826-?? or from the introduction or colour photography to the introduction of digital photography. 1 Represent its historical significance eg-on a timeline.

The first two periods that come to mind are WW2 as well as The Great Depression. I can tell you a little bit about The Great Depression as that is pretty fresh in my mind- There was a group of documentary photographers worked for the FSA (Farm Security Administration) sponsored by government agencies to create imagery about work and life conditions of people heavily effected by the depression. So these social documentary photographs were created just to show to the public through magazines and editorials to create change. Some photographers that shot for the FSA are Dorothea Lange, Walker Evans, and Arthur Rothstein. If you look up Migrant Mother by Dorothea Lange i'm sure you'll recognize it.

What is the history of film photography?

And how does it relate to digital photography today? What was the first method that people used to take pictures, what were the chemicals used, were any of them harmful? How did that lead to digital photography today? How do digital and film photos differ? I would like to understand photography better and if anyone would be so kind as to explain the history and how it has evolved I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you in advance :)

    The History Of Digital Photography

    1
    the history of digital photography

    History of theDigital Photography

The Digital Photography can be seen as a technique to replace the drawing or painting to represent the world around us, its invention required first the realization of an optical device to create the image and secondly to set this picture on a permanent medium by a chemical process irreversible.

Moreover, the use of this technique had evolvedand its artistic dimension has been particularly recognized.

The camera was already known by Aristotle (384-322 BC). By the Persian scholar Ibn al-Haytham (965-1038) and Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519) can be regarded as the ancestor of the cameras. It consists of a closed box, light tight, one of whose sides is pierced with a tiny hole, a pinhole camera. The mirror image of an illuminated object located outside the front of the hole is formed on the opposite wall.

    The invention of the negative
William Henry Fox Talbot (1800-1877) conducts research parallel those of Niepce and Daguerre from 1833 and is believed to had invented the Digital Photography. In 1840, he invented the "calotype" negative-positive process that allows multiple scattering images. Follow other research that, little by little, improves image quality, sensitivity to light sensitive surfaces and simplify the procedure for shooting: 1847 "process to albumin (Claude Felix Abel Niepce de Saint Victor, Nicephorus cousin), 1850 "wet collodion process" and 1851 "ambrotype (Frederick Scott Archer), 1852" tintype "(Adolphe-Alexandre Martin). Do not forget the work negative / positive paper Hippolyte Bayard, French photographer (a contemporary of Fox Talbot), who in 1839 published the first self-portrait (the drowning suicide). Niepce, Daguerre and Talbot were however not the only ones to claim authorship of the Digital Photography. After the announcement of Daguerre in 1839, at least 24 men from Norway to Brazil have done the same.

    Conclusion
Around 1948, Dr. Edwin Land developed the first device, Instant, Polaroid, and in 1962, he adapted this method to color.

All current photographic processes "by silver image" are merely refinements of these inventions, or materials of shots, or sensitive surfaces.

Digital Photography Lessons - The 3 Aspects of WOW in Digital Photography

That's why cameras are ready to have settings like aperture priority, shutter priority and complete automated.

The volume of light desired can be conveniently calculated by the cameras internal computer.

What can't be instantly computed and in which we uncover the genuine artistry in photography, is in the inventive selections that go into just about every photo.

No digital camera could actually automatically make these sorts of resourceful decisions.

If you want to get your photography to a complete new level and begin acquiring photos that will rival the very best pros - and you can - you can go on the internet and come across digital photography lessons that will rapidly have you out of the fully automated, grab shot stage and place the "WOW" into YOUR photos.

For a great deal a lot more info, check out out my web-site...

Do you want to snap some amazing pictures? Do you require photography lessons?

Let's examine out composition and just how it'll spruce up your pics with fast impact.

Composition attributes numerous facets like viewpoint, lights, shade, depth of field, setting of your subject matter and many others. This record doesn't go into all the many things that constitute composition, but reveal just a handful of to get you curious. In the function you use a very few of these digital photography classes, your pictures will advance significantly.

Right here are numerous of the most favorite uncomplicated approaches to find out. These digital photography lessons were the most effective at bettering upon my talents.

Altering the Angle - If you're like I when was, you look in the view finder of the digital camera, the true horizon is straight and "click" you get the picture. I have to confess precisely how drab my photographs had been. To raise curiosity inside the image, tilt the camera to close to 45 degrees.

Very last week I'd been reflecting on past experiences...Oh, I am particular that you would not like to listen to me rant on about this, nonetheless you could start off to assume about this: Amid the in particular helpful digital photography coaching is certainly to use a reflective surface area to raise dimension. You may have an picture by making use of a reflection in drinking water, a mirror, a windowpane or even one thing metallic and shiny. A single of the most photographed issue is called The Bean in Chicago.

Fill Flash: Flashing persons in the daytime need to aid your photos. Wait a minute, that didn't turn out just like I meant it to. Just what exactly I mean is basically 1 process to eliminate dark places in the course of the day is to apply your flash. This performs extremely perfectly with shadows located on people's faces.

Incorporating these digital photography coaching any time taking photographs can assist immensely. All of these have served to develop some extraordinary photographs and along with coaching, I am confident they are heading to revitalize your images as well.

Often we'll see a human being walking all over with enough camera gear slung around his neck to open a camera store. These individuals make it look as even though photography is complex and not possible to recognize. Not so. Digital photography lessons all boil down to three simple components.

    one. - The aperture.

The aperture is nothing extra than a hole in the camera that lets in light.
