Which topic should I do for my history Assignment? (context of twentieth century australia)?

- Art, Film, Photography
- Media (including propaganda, political advertising and cartoons)
- War
- Fashion
- Indigenous Australians
- National Identity
- The role of women
- Politics
- Protest movements
- Gay & Lesbian rights
- Food

I've got to choose one from the above, and it can be presented in:
- Essay
- Powerpoint
- Film
- Play
- Annotated timeline
- Poster
- Poem/Song
- Recipe collection and sample dish
- Folio (eg. Photographs, artwork, etc.)
- Oral history interview (digital recording or transcript)

Thanks guys!

Food sounds work but might be easy too... Politics I'm sure are the hardest ever so don't go there. Not sure how much info on the gay thing you'll find either. I think either the role of women (they have their own paragraphs and sections in my history book) or the indigenous Australians that sound cool. What an interesting thing to write about the country that started out as a dumping ground for criminals. (Although many 'crimainals' weren't really actual criminals.)

what historical events may have impacked on the photographs taken and what impact did this photograph have?

give a period of photography, eg: 1826-?? or from the introduction or colour photography to the introduction of digital photography. 1 Represent its historical significance eg-on a timeline.

The first two periods that come to mind are WW2 as well as The Great Depression. I can tell you a little bit about The Great Depression as that is pretty fresh in my mind- There was a group of documentary photographers worked for the FSA (Farm Security Administration) sponsored by government agencies to create imagery about work and life conditions of people heavily effected by the depression. So these social documentary photographs were created just to show to the public through magazines and editorials to create change. Some photographers that shot for the FSA are Dorothea Lange, Walker Evans, and Arthur Rothstein. If you look up Migrant Mother by Dorothea Lange i'm sure you'll recognize it.

What is the history of film photography?

And how does it relate to digital photography today? What was the first method that people used to take pictures, what were the chemicals used, were any of them harmful? How did that lead to digital photography today? How do digital and film photos differ? I would like to understand photography better and if anyone would be so kind as to explain the history and how it has evolved I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you in advance :)

Here you go - a timeline (in fact a couple)

Anyone know the history of Digital Photography?

In 1969 October 17th George Smith and Willard Boyle invented the charge coupled device or the CCD as we know it. This device was originally made for use in computers as a semi-conductor memory. These inventors of the CCD were also thinking about ways to incorporate their device into video phones.

With all of their plans and sketches finalized Smith and Boyle finally built the CCD into the world’s first CCD camera. This changed the history of digital photography altogether.

The camera that was built by them was a solid state video camera. During 1975 the CCD camera with its image sharp pictures was shown on television for the first time. The image that was shown was clear enough to be seen by the viewers of television.

In the history of digital photography the first prototype of the digital camera was created by Sony in1981. This digital camera was called Mavica which meant Magnetic Video Camera. The Sony Mavica was essentially a video camera that was used to capture video freeze-frames.

In 1986 Kodak scientists invented the first megapixel senor. This senor was capable of recording 1.4 million pixels. These were capable of producing a 5 x 7 inch digital photo quality print. In 1987 Kodak released 7 products that had the ability to manipulate digital images.

In 1991 Kodak in partnership with Nikon, released the Nikon F-3 camera. This camera was equipped with a 1.3 megapixel sensor by Kodak. This shows how the history of digital photography merged scientific know-how to produce a digital camera.
