I became fascinated by the UAS/UAV field as I was researching lightweight UAV's for an aerial photography business. With a prior background as a 135/121 pilot as well as in various flight planning capacities (Ops/Software Test)- I have a strong civilian background, but not the military. How do I advance my career into the UAS market without military experience? ( I'm too old to join the military.) Are the civilian jobs out there willing to look at those of us without military experience, and if so- what do I do/where do I go for further training? Thanks for any help!
You should contact some of the companies that produce the UAVs. You will probably encounter some resistance, since there are numerous people getting out of the military with the necessary skill set and military experience.

Photography tricks and shortcuts is increasingly popular with people from all walks of life and places, especially so as photography reached a new peak, in today's digital age. Can you imagine what a piece of tissue can help in your photography? Sure, we have advance photo-editing software, but instead of spending hours editing your tons of pictures, why don't we invest a little time and money on camera accessories? Not all useful and innovative camera equipment burn a hole in our pocket. Photography should be hassle-free and enjoyable!
What is Wide angle macro lens? Most Digital SLR cameras come with a 18-55mm kit lens which has a modest screw thread, which allows you to attach with filters, converters and lenses. One of which is Wide angle macro lens. It consists of 2 objectives, when together, give you a much wider perspective at 0.5x. If you like taking landscape and wide angle pictures, this wide angle macro lens will give you the wider range that all photo editing software are unable to. Panoramic pictures require the wide depth and 0.5x wide angle macro lens give you just that!
When you unscrew the top part, it reveals a macro lens that really makes details stand out. Taking closeups on insects, flowers or anything that requires magnification is a breeze. Using the sleek macro lens, the focusing distance from the subject is greatly minimized to 1/5 of the original focusing distance. This incredible 2 in 1 lens comes in different diameters and is compatible with lenses from Canon, Nikon, Sony, Sigma and others.
There are several companies which make wide angle macro lenses. Vitacon, Steinzeiser, Digital King are the better known ones, among others. They may look similar, but the pictures quality are different. The difference in distortion, lens coating, image ghost and design build are what photography consumers need to observe and determine.
There are many other camera equipments like tripods, flashes and more, which work great like the wide angle macro lens. We need to explore and review more photography stuff that are affordable and useful.
I am an avid photographer for the past 10 odd years. I enjoy taking landscape, closeups to portraits, and i like to carry easy. As much as i wish to carry all my lenses, sometimes the weight of my camera bag really put me off. This 0.5x wide angle and macro lens allow me to enjoy photography with much convenience and definitely with my shooting range. I have seen this wide angle macro lenses: tried it, bought it, and now sharing with you.
Panorama creation in two and a half mintues with free software
1 Is there slideshow creation software with professional pan/zoom effects?
I am making a video slideshow with high resolution panoramic images that I would like to have pan across the screen. However, with any slideshow software I have tried, it is never a smooth pan. It ends up being jerky or flickering. So far I have tried Photo Maker DVD Professional, Windows Movie Maker, Flash Slideshow Maker, and MemoriesOnTV. I have tried numerous settings in each program, and nothing seems to fix this. Any suggestions?
Have you tried Photo Flash Maker Platinum? There are panoramic templates(http://www.photo-flash-maker.com/flash-template-advanced-3d-panoramasphere.html) may help you. There also is Professional theme template support pan zoom effects. You can try.

Gone are the days of only being able to experience a location through still photography, the new wave is in virtual tours. Virtual tours today consist of cutting-edge technology that usually requires a computer expert and a professional photographer to capture this high quality panoramic experience. The first virtual tour was created in 1994, and since then the popularity of this technology has continued to grow as well as entice new clients and customers worldwide.
Virtual tours are created by the use of specialized software and camera equipment that create a 360 degree view of a location. Some tours may even include the addition of innovative multimedia effects such as narration, music, full screen capability, zoom feature, incorporated map, hotspots, and the list goes on. Virtual tours have been broadly used in the real estate business. As a matter of fact, more and more real estate owners and agents make it a point to include virtual tours of their property on their websites to magnetize potential buyers.
From the customers perspective, it is very useful to be able to view the property with a virtual tour because it shows them views and angles of each room that they just would not have been able to see from a still photo. With a virtual tour, the prospective buyer will get the experience and feeling of actually being inside the home without having to be physically present. This is another reason that this specific marketing tool is so great in targeting out of state customers. Amazing isn’t it? Virtual tours have opened doors to more sales and improved marketability for many industries. Schools and Universities have also found use in incorporating virtual tours into their websites. With this technology, the parents and students are able to tour and visit the campus and other facilities available before they ever arrive. This is obviously a great convenience for out of state students.
Industries and businesses turn to virtual tours to improve their market sales and indeed, it has proven to be an effective tool. Business owners acknowledge that over time, incorporating virtual tours into their websites have improved their search engine rankings as well as website traffic. This is probably due to the navigating features that virtual tours offer. Many use it for showing integrated floor plans and angles of a room or location. Some even display full virtual tours of their offices or spaces for rent or sale.
There are several companies that specialize in virtual tour production on the internet. However, choosing the right company should be your top priority. Find a company that is reliable, professional, and has acceptable rates. Regal 360 is one of the most trusted virtual tour providers out there and you can surely rely on them for your needs. They only use the best photo equipment and the latest computer software available in this field, and they are well known for producing a very high quality product with the addition of many multimedia features. Online Photography Degree Programs - Surpass The Competition
Photographers currently hold over 150,000 jobs. Many of them are extremely talented individuals who have no formal training. But in a field that is getting increasingly competitive, more and more aspiring photographers are doing online photography degree programs.
Whilst there are no replacements for artistic talent, creativity and good hand-to-eye coordination, these degree programs offer curricula that can give you the edge in your pursuit of a professional photography career.
Example of courses offered include:
* Advanced Digital Imaging * Art of Web Designing * Color Photography * Computer Imaging * Intermediate Photography * Photojournalism
You see, with digital technology getting more affordable, more and more amateur photographers are "throwing their hats in the ring". This is why it is so important to consider doing an online photography degree. After graduation, you'll be able to offer client creativity and skills that not all working photographers have.
Also, bear in mind that this degree program can open up more job opportunities for you. Sure, just over 50% of photographers are self-employed. But there are also excellent opportunities elsewhere. Both online and print journals, newspapers and magazines hire skilled photographers - many of whom have degrees.
Having a degree in this area will make you very attractive to these employers. Another great thing about an online photography degree program is that you'll be able to complete the program in your spare-time and at your own pace. So whilst you are working and gaining valuable experience, you can be improving your education.
This is a very powerful benefit because many students have to choose between keeping their jobs and going to college - but you won't have that dilemma.
The growth in employment opportunities for photographers over the next decade is not that strong. So if this is a field you really are passionate about - do yourself a favor and get additional training. Your only problem might be trying to locate the top schools that offer online photography degree programs.

If scenic landscape pictures are something you love, then you probably love panoramic pictures. Panoramic pictures have grown in popularity with the increasing use of panoramic format cameras and the popularity of digital photography. If you're unfamiliar with panoramic pictures, now is the time to start learning why they're so popular and how they can add a new look to your home decorating. Why are panoramic picture frames so popular among photography enthusiasts?
They're a unique way to capture tall landscapes and breathtaking vistas. Now you can take a full picture of the Eiffel tower or the Statue of Liberty or capture an entire cityscape.
Their non-standard shape offers an artistic touch to your picture wall. A panoramic picture frame adds a unique dimension to your photo display whether it's displayed by itself or in a group.
They are less expensive than having to buy a larger picture frame with a mat to fit the panoramic photo size. Now with panoramic frames widely available you can find exactly what you want without the big expense of having a custom frame made.
Panoramic Picture Basics
There are a three primary ways to take panoramic pictures: a camera using APS film, a digital camera with a panoramic setting or to digitally “stitch” together multiple pictures into a panoramic photo.
Originally, panoramic pictures first became popular with film cameras using Advanced Photo System (APS) film. These cameras took panoramic photos in specific panoramic sizes which are still popular today. These days with digital cameras and the software for photo "stitching" there are really no restrictions to the size of your panoramic photo. Now the limit for panoramic photos comes to framing your picture. The options for framing your panoramic photos are limited to three common sizes of ready made panoramic picture frames. Those sizes are 3.5x10, 4x10 and 4x12. Ready made frames are most popular because they're significantly less expensive than custom picture frames.
Ready made panoramic frame styles are usually simple with clean lines and are available in either metal or wood frames. Wood panoramic frames seem to be more popular because they are available in many stained colors and can highlight the tones in your picture beautifully. The choice of colors and the classic simple style of panoramic frames will complement almost any home or office decor and will add a new dimension to your photo displays.
Even though the popularity of APS film is decreasing, that doesn't mean panoramic photos are going away. With the immense popularity of digital photography, panoramic pictures and panoramic frames will be around for a long time. So keep taking those beautiful panoramic views and have fun creating a unique look with your panoramic frames.

Five Tips for Taking Better Photographs - The Photography Secret Manual
Five Tips for Taking Better Photographs
The difference between photographs taken by an amateur and photographs taken by a professional are worlds apart. Professional photographs have a much greater impact on the viewer and create a lasting impression on whoever views them. Fortunately, there are a few things that you can do to turn your photos into professional-looking compositions without getting an advanced photography degree.
1. Invest in a solid camera. The biggest difference between amateur and professional cameras is the camera quality. Professional cameras are capable of taking pictures at a much higher resolution and color range, which results in greater quality.
2. Get off of Automatic. The automatic exposure function of cameras makes it easy to take pictures, but it doesn't always result in the best possible quality. Learn how to adjust the exposure settings through the f-stop, the ISO, and the shutter speed to take the best photos possible.
3. Take/Look at Pictures. If you want to refine your skills, it's very important that you purchase or look at photography books in your spare time so that you can be inspired. It's also important that you take a ton of pictures yourself and work to improve your skills.
4. Learn Compositional Technique. Work on framing your pictures in way that expresses an emotion to the audience, not one that simply displays your subject in the center of the frame.
5. Process your Photos. Programs such as Photoshop can help you increase the sharpness of your work, balance the colors, and even add special effects. The Photography Bible teaches you all you need to know about mastering these five (and many more) techniques. Go to The Photography Secret Manual and find out for yourself!

Panoramic digital photos cover a wide angle of view. In its extreme a panoramic photo can cover 360 degrees of view. Such panoramic photos are for example taken from a sky scraper to convey the view it provides. Most new digital cameras provide a panoramic mode that supports such photography.
There is no formal or definitive definition of what a panoramic photo is. It is common practice to define panoramic photos as such that cover a wide angle of view. How wide? A common definition is "wider than our eyes can see" - or in other worlds - provide an artificial view that otherwise we could not have gotten by just looking at the scene (without moving our head left and right or up and down of course). Panoramic digital photos can be taken in a single shot using special panoramic wide angle lenses. This technique is limited of course as for example a 360 degree panoramic photo can not be taken this way.
Another way in which panoramic photos are created is in segments - a few photos are taken in series and are later attached to each other to create one big panoramic photo. The process of attaching the photos together is fast and easy thanks to modern digital photo processing software (as long as you're following some guidelines when taking the photos). Panoramic photos are not limited to capturing landscape or wide angle view. They can be very useful when capturing objects that are just too big to be captured from where you stand. For example if you are standing too close to a tall tower and can not retreat to a farther position - using panoramic photography will enable you to capture the complete tower (in 2 or more shots).
Most digital cameras support a special panoramic mode. In this mode the camera optimizes its optical settings for panoramic wide angle photography. But more than just setting the optical parameters the camera also provides tools that allow you to more easily take the photos series and later on stitch them together. When put in panoramic mode the camera will first let you choose if you plan to take a horizontal panoramic photo (i.e. taking photos from left to right or right to left while keeping the vertical position fixed) or to take a vertical panoramic photo (i.e. taking the photos from bottom to top or top to bottom while keeping the horizontal position fixed). You can also choose a combination.
After you choose the panoramic mode - the camera will let you start taking the photos. On its LCD screen you would always see the previous photo you took and the new photo you are taking. This allows you to easily compose each photo in a way that it complements the previous one. You would also want to make sure the photo overlaps a bit with the previous photo - this allows for easier photo stitching later on. The camera also names the digital photos files in a special format that further helps stitching.
Photo stitching can be easily done on a computer at home. Many digital cameras come with a photo stitching software. If your digital camera did not come with one you can find either free or low priced commercial software that can stitch single photos. Basically what the photo stitching software does is: based on the photo file names it orders the photos in their right order. Then it identifies the overlapping areas in each pair of photos and places the photos in a way that these overlapping areas match (this is why having a bit of overlap is important). The final step is to attach all those pairs of files and create a single panoramic digital photo.
It is a good practice to use a tripod when taking panoramic photos. A tripod will help you maintaining either a fixed horizontal or a fixed vertical position. Also it is good practice to keep the optical settings fixed between shots and to make sure that the lighting stays the same. As always practice makes perfect - go and experiment with panoramic photography and master your digital camera panoramic mode.

Finding Out Just How Much Should Embroidery Digitizing Really Costs
It has happened with many people who bought embroidery machines and thought of learning embroidery digitizing. Let's say you too just bought an embroidery machine, but don't want to fall for buying an expensive piece of embroidery digitizing software. You don't even have time or energy to put in to learning how to digitize your own patterns. Especially after all that you've read on how hard it is to learn embroidery digitizing. Rewarding or not, it's not for you. That said, how much should it cost for you to get your own pattern digitized?
The answer isn't in quite crystal clear. It's going to depend on where you go. As a general rule the cost of digitizing a pattern will vary according to how complicated the pattern is. The more stitches, the more you'll pay.
You may feel like the companies who digitize patterns are asking for a lot of money for such a little file. After all, the file only takes a few minutes to stitch, why should they charge as much as they do.
Think of it this way. You send your clipart or picture off to a company that offers to digitize it for you. You may have found them on the web or in the yellow pages. Not only do they have to buy the program they use to digitize the file, but they need to pay their employees to learn to use embroidery digitizing software. They have to pay for the time it takes their employee to digitize the design. That's just the start. They have their own bills to pay, plus advertising costs. Without advertising, how would you have found them? The only way it is profitable for them to offer their services is for them to pass the cost on to you.
What you are charged will change according to how many stitches wind up in the pattern. Generally the charge difference goes in blocks, 0 to 1,000 stitches will be one price, then they go up for each 1,000 stitches. This only makes sense. The more stitches are in the pattern, the longer it is going to take for them to digitize it and the longer it'll take for the pattern to turn out how it's planned and the more they have to pay their employee.
Most of the time, companies that digitize patterns will also sell blank garments, or offer to embroider your pattern for you onto clothing, hats or afghans. This is especially handy if you have too many items to embroider, or if you don't have enough time to do all of the embroidery yourself.
The charge for a company to digitize your embroidery designs is actually very reasonable considering all of the above points. If you ever learn to digitize your own embroidery you would agree. It is a skill that deserves to be rewarded monetarily or otherwise. Fortunately we have a few off-shore companies providing excellent service at one third of the price. You would be very fortunate if you would find a similar company. Some companies offer a free trial so that you can try there services before you go into serious business with them. Excellent services & top notch quality is what everyone one wants. Do a search on goggle for cheap digitizing and you might find some company that could fit your expectations.
Retail and commerce companies in Yorkshire use pack shot photography extensively to promote their products and services, both online and in printed literature. The term has become synonymous with commercial photography for advertisers.
A pack shot, or packshot, is a still or animated photographed image, usually including labelling and packaging, which is used to advertise a product. Pack shot photography is a lucrative way to increase revenue for both the merchandiser and the commercial photographer. Done with flair, it will promote a product's reputation, stimulate sales and trigger recognition of the item both on and off the shelf. It also gives the customer important details about the product, especially if 360 degree pack shot photography is used.
Pack shot photography requires a high degree of trust between the photographer and their client. In the past, forged and leaked packshots have led to damaged reputations and court cases. Of all the forms of commercial photography there are, packshots probably require the highest level of security and confidentiality.
Types of packshot photography
A packshot can be as simple as a photograph of the product on a white background, or as elaborate as a short, stop-motion animated movie. Commercial photography is almost entirely digital these days, which has opened up realms of possibilities, with a wealth of professional software available to photographers.
For example, let's look at the centre of Leeds. Packshot photography can be seen wherever you look, advertising foodstuffs, cleaning products, mobile phones, jewellery, toys, motor vehicles and more.
Packshot photography isn't limited to brochures, posters and magazines. As well as company websites, packshot images can be seen on t-shirts, ties, and sides of buses. Once the packshot has been digitally rendered, it can be used on anything that will take a printed or projected image.
Packshot photography for websites
Website packshots are always taken on a white background. They are purchased as "packs" of 20 or more images, in 2 or more sizes. Once complete, the pack is delivered to the customer in either file format or via their content management system. Some commercial photography companies offer a full media service, while others just supply the shots, leaving the customer to do the post-production work themselves.
360° packshots are a form of online commercial photography allowing the customer to view the item from all angles – as they would in a store. Used on objects of all sizes, it can incorporate zooming techniques and other innovations. Another option is stop motion animation photography, which is widely used on products with moving parts, such as kitchen gadgets and motor cars.
High resolution pack shot photography
Commercial photography is still most often associated with printed media. Professional photographers today can offer digitally enhanced, high resolution packshots for catalogues, brochures and promotional leaflets, as well as for newspapers and magazines.
Packshot photography for print publications usually involves a clipping path. Produced using professional digital software, the photographer will shoot onto a plain white or coloured backdrop and then "snip" round the image, allowing it to be used on an infinite number of backgrounds. The same image can therefore be used on both the company's print literature and its website.

1 What digital point-and-shoot camera best meets these criteria?
I'm in the market for a point-and-shoot camera that meets these requirements. In addition, a quick personal review -if possible- would be helpful also.
At least 8+ mega pixel (4-5+ optical zoom preferred) SD-Card compatible lightweight/slim design various photography modes (including movie with sound, panoramic, beach, etc) image stabilization quality photos quality craftsmanship under $200.00 USD
Thanks in advance, if I come up with any other criteria or if questions are asked, I'll be more than happy to respond. Other items to note:
The larger the LCD screen on the back, the better.
Efficient battery/energy usage - long life.
Refresh rate between flash photos... i.e. minimal lag.
get just any Panasonic in that price-range. Pana beats them all anyway in budget cameras and when it concerns image quality, Pana is at the first row on all models. Would like to tell ya to buy a LX3, but that doubles your budget. Just let me tell you that it is the P&S of the Pro's.
If you add a few bucks to your budget and if you can afford it, have a look on Fuji's new F200EXR, you will be surprised once you see the shots. It makes no raw but in jpg ist's a little wonder and the only P&S that pushes higher than 800 iso with clean quality. Can do hdr pictures as well.
How Do You Create and Edit Panoramic Digital Photos?
panoramic digital photography5 panoramic digital photography5
Im thinking of majoring in digital photography and once I have my degree becoming a studio photographer. Is that a pretty high demand job? I mean im looking at doing photography for movie sets or models or something a long that nature. Any info on this?
There are so many people in the photography biz; far more than the demand. I might suggest that you focus on a niche like "product photography" which is more difficult to master and the pay is good. Products are difficult to photograph well because they come in such a wide variety of surfaces (reflective ones like glass, porcelain, and metal can be very challenging!) There's also the creative aspect to it when you must group a line of products together in an appealing way.
