Photo Editor X Review - A Review of the Popular Digital Photo Editing Software

If you are looking for a review of the popular photo editing software Photo Editor X then you have come to the right place. It's always a good idea to check product reviews before making a purchase. Photo Editor X is a professional photo editing software program that allows you to edit and enhance your digital photos like the professionals without paying big bucks for photo editing software like Adobe Photoshop. In this review of Photo Editor X I will outline the pro's and the con's of this popular photo editing software so that you can make an informed decision regarding making a purchase.

Photo Editor X Review Point #1 - Price Versus Quality

When it comes to buying photo editing software the first thing that you will notice is that there is a wide range of pricing. You can spend anywhere from $50 all the way up into the thousands. Adobe Photoshop CS5 can run you an easy $1,000 brand new. So how do you know which one you should buy? Well, you have to decide which features are the most important to you. In review of Photo Editor X, one thing that I noticed that set it apart from other software programs was that it offered a large amount of features for a low price. With a price tag of around $50 it doesn't have all the bells and whistles of Adobe Photoshop CS5 Extended Version but it does give you the ability to do the basic things like remove red eye or change the background as well as do the more advanced things like work with layers and channels. For the price point that Photo Editor X is at, it's list of features is quite impressive. So, in my opinion, a lower price does not equate to lower quality or less features.

Photo Editor X Review Point #2 - Usability and Interface

One of the problems that you may run into when determining which photo editing program will work best for you is in regards to usability. If you are a professional then you want big features and big tools and if the interface has a bit of a learning curve then that may not be a big deal for you. If you are a novice, however, you want to enhance your photos without needing to get a degree in graphic design. The usability and interface, in my opinion, are the biggest highlights for Photo Editor X. You get the features of a professional photo editing software suite with a user-friendly interface. Anyone who has used Adobe Photoshop or Gimp knows that some photo editing programs can be tricky to learn. Photo Editor X not only has an easy to use interface, but the program comes with over 3 hours of video tutorials as well.

Photo Editor X Review Point #3 - Compatibility

An important factor that should be considered when purchasing any photo editing software is cross compatibility. As you work on different projects you may need to use files that are in different formats from the native file format of your photo editing program. It's important that your photo editor can work with a broad range of file types in order to prevent any disruptions in your workflow. One thing that I noticed about Photo Editor X is that it is compatible with a wide range of file types including Photoshop CS files and Dreamworks files. In fact, I couldn't find a single file type that Photo Editor X was not compatible with.

Free Photo Editing Software

free photo editing software
What free photo editing software can I use to do this?

I'm trying to crop a person out of a photo and drop her into a different background. I have Photoscape but I'm not sure how to do that with the program. If anybody knows how to do it please tell me. Or if you know of a free software I can download to do it with please let me know (and how to do it with that software).

You can do it with GIMP, which is free. It might take some effort and time to learn enough of GIMP to do it. It's time well spent, though, in the long run.

You take the 'foreground layer' picture (the person) and erase everything but the person. You can make the eraser very small and zoom in really close to get it right down to the pixel. It's a little time-consuming but not hard. Then you bring in the background picture beneath it as a 'background layer'.

Then if you want you can re-adjust brightness, contrast and 'levels' in both layers to make them match. It just depends on how much time you want to spend.

Best Digital Photo Software

1
best digital photo software
Which Photo-Software is "Cheap & Best "for Nikon D 40 SLR ? -Nikon's, Adobe's or 123 of digital imaging ?

Opinion about "123 of digital imaging" software for a casual photographer for windows !
Or suggest some better one which is cheap & best , compatible with Nikon-D40 SLR !!

Nikon comes with Picture Project, a program that lets you crop, change to black and white, or sepia, adjust saturation, convert RAW to jpeg, and other basic functions. For more advanced work, such as adjusting curves, or adding more effects, you'll need something like Photoshop. This is $100 or $750, depending if you want Elements, or CS3. Luckily for us poor people some people created a free program called GIMP. It has most if not all the features of Photoshop, only it's free. You can download it free from their sight, or a mirror sight. It's also compatible with any kind of camera.

Hope this helps.

How To Choose Free Photo Editing Software

Of course, in the paid category, more features would be required. The min-requirements list include: auto-scan, create album, join one picture to multiple albums, password protect pictures, fixes, basic editing, sharing, printing, and backup.

Auto-scan should be able to scan your entire computer hard drive for pictures and catalog them in a generic fashion such as date. This will then free you up to do the creative part of categorizing them instead of the tedious part of finding them!

Album creation is just tagging your pictures into a collection by name. This name is your album name. It's that simple.

You should be able to join one picture to multiple albums because pictures are multi-dimensional. You may take a picture of a flower in South Dakota and file it in the "South Dakota trip" album; however, later you build a "Flowers" album and now you need to store that same picture in the "Flowers" album also. You don't want to use up disk space with multiple copies of the picture you just want to set two references to it. That is the power of joining one picture to many albums.

Password protecting is always a good feature for your photo album. There are pictures that mean a lot to you ;but, you want them to stay private. You could have pictures of the placement of valuables that are hidden ;but, you want to have pictures to help you find them again if you forget. This is just one application of password-protecting pictures.

Recovering Lost Photos From Canon Powershot G10

<!-- @page { margin: 0.79in } P { margin-bottom: 0.08in } -->

Canon PowerShot G10 is a unique combination of style with extraordinary imaging features. This G series camera from Canon has a 14.7 megapixel CCD sensor, DIGIC IV processor, and lots of other qualities that make digital photography a wonderful experience. Photos captured using this camera can be uploaded and edited to any Macintosh or Windows computer by an exclusive software, that comes with the camera itself. However, if these photos are lost, there is no way other than using your last backup or Photo Recovery applications.

A Canon PowerShot G10 camera can lose its digital data store owing to multitude of reasons that include storage media card corruption, accidental file deletion, and more. Various storage media cards that it supports are SD, SDHC, MMC, MMC plus, and HC MMC plus.

You are advised to be careful when using these storage cards. It has been found that events like unexpected shutdown and interrupted writes can often corrupt these cards and render your photos inaccessible. Most of the times, their file systems get corrupted. This is generally the result of malpractices that a Canon PowerShot G10 camera might experience while in use. Some of them are listed below:

  • You eject the memory card while its pictures are being transferred or opened for access

  • You turn off Canon PowerShot G10 camera during a write operation

  • Camera's batteries are low and you continue shooting the pictures

  • Memory card's capacity is almost full and you keep on storing and deleting pictures continually

  • You use Canon PowerShot G10 camera with an incompatible software

Thus, it is recommended to take care of your storage device and let all write operations be completed. However, you can reformat corrupted storage media card to make it reusable. But doing so deletes all the images, photos, etc. and necessitates the use of last available backup. In case of backup unavailability, you need solutions like Windows and Mac Photo Recovery software.

Photo Recovery software are powerful tools designed to scan, locate, and restore lost digital data with ease. These software can run on any detectable storage media and help in retrieving lost digital photos.

Stellar Phoenix Photo Recovery for Mac and Windows is a reliable utility that is used to recover lost or deleted photos, videos, and images from variety of storage media. This is a perfect Windows and Mac Photo Recovery utility with simple design and advanced features.

Video Editing Software - Choosing the Best for You

Choosing the best video editing software can seem a daunting task given the wide range of products available at the moment. However with a little help to remain focused on what is important you should be able to make a good choice.

One of the key points to keep in mind is, "What is it that I am I REALLY going to do with the video editing software that I choose?" The answer to that question has to remain uppermost in your mind when selecting the best video editing software for you.

All of the major home video editing software companies offer camcorder to DVD video editing solutions that make them almost inseparable from each other. So concentrate on what you REALLY need.

The first thing to establish is what is the format of the material you will be working with and what will be the formats that you will want to produce in the end. Input will be determined by your camcorder or your DVD recorder or whatever the source of your material is. Take note of the format your device records in and make sure that one is covered first.

Then realistically take a look at how you would most likely distribute your final videos. DVD? Blu-Ray? Uploading to YouTube or similar? Make sure the software you choose can output to the format you want.

So, your first task in deciding on what video editing software is suitable for you is to work out what your most common source video files will be and what your most common video output will be. That represents the core of what you will be using the software for and should be your main focus.

Like any other competitive market, video editing software is caught up in a never ending race to keep up with technology as it develops and still make the product seem "sexy" to the customer. The point is you probably don't WANT to buy video editing software. What you WANT is a finished video production.

The problem for the software company is that they know you NEED to buy video editing software but that is not what you WANT! They have to make you WANT it! And because of that we get "bells and whistles" features that make you WANT IT but most likely will never need.

Video Transitions:
Transitions are the little inserts that go in between two clips to make the scene change. If you look at a movie you will notice when the scene changes it either cuts to the next scene with no transition, this is called cut or a straight cut. It fades to black then fades into the next scene from black called a cross fade through black. Or, finally, the two scenes merge into each other softly and this one is called a cross fade. There you have it, pretty well the entire gamut of transitions that professional video editors use!

All video editing software programs offer at least 50 transitions each. Newbies use ALL the available transitions because they look cool the first time they see them. The reality is NOBODY ever, ever wants to go back to their house again to look at their latest production because their heads are still spinning from the last one! Ignore transitions as a deciding factor, all video editing software programs have them and they all have more than you need.

Video Overlay:
An overlay track, simply put, is the ability to put one video in the background and have another visible on top of it. It is that "picture in picture" effect you have seen on TV and in movies. You can also put subtitles in an overlay track or still photos or a bunch of other things to really get creative. You need about five for good control but you would never use more than that otherwise, once again, no-one is going to want to watch the mess you have created!

Audio:
There is no video editing software at the consumer level that offers truly excellent audio control and features. They are video editing programs not audio editing programs. Some have pretty good control, some don't, if you are going to demand pro level audio then you need dedicated software for that.

The ability to handle Dolby 2 channel is a bare minimum and 5:1 Surround should be standard. The program should offer two audio tracks to play with in addition to the sound in the video track. That leaves you plenty of room for music, narration or effects.

Smart Render:
Rendering is the term used when the video editing software is making the final file of your newly created video. Up until rendering, in any consumer level video editing software, all the cuts, additions, changes and adjustments you have been making are "virtual." The original footage is never touched. So rendering puts all that together and produces your final video file in the format you have chosen as the viewing format.

Any of the highly compressed formats such as MPEG2 (for DVDs), MPEG4 etc invariably suffer from loss of quality when they are re-rendered. The degree of loss of quality varies but it is essential that any video editing software you choose has the ability to recognise those files it does not need to re-render and simply copy those sections resulting in the high quality possible being retained. It should also offer good control over the properties of the final video.

So there you have it, stay focused on what is important and keep the "gee whiz" stuff to a minimum and you will do fine!

New Photography Software

What is the best photography software for RAW workflow?

I've used Capture One LE from Phase One, tried Aperture and am beta testing the new Lightroom by Adobe. Any others I haven't heard of? Has to be a complete work flow program, not just a photo editor.

You've tried Aperture. And you've tried lightroom, which I absolutely love. The only other workflow/raw processor I would even think about suggesting is Bridge which is able to host Camera Raw without opening photoshop.

It's bundled with PS and Creative suite so you probably already have it and used it. In order to be able to use camera raw in bridge you can either right-click to select it or
(preferences>advanced>double-click edits camera raw in bridge). The last one will allows you to edit camera raw in bridge by clicking an image. If you double-click an image without checking that box PS will host camera raw.

Postcard Printing

Postcard printing can also be done and printed in the traditional way. Creativity is the only key to this. There are simple steps to follow in making your custom postcards. Just address these factors and surely you will achieve a customized postcard similar to postcards printed online.

Postcard Picture
The main attraction in a postcard is the primary picture. It says a lot about the message inside the postcard. Make sure that it makes an impact appropriate to the information the postcard contains. Getting that picture is made easy. You just need a decent digital camera with a high resolution setting and you’re ready to go. Choose an image that would best capture the message of your postcard. Go for clear and simple pictures. Complicated ones just confuse your readers and often have wrong info about your real message.

Keep in mind that a high resolution picture would mean nothing if it is not properly lighted. So if possible, avoid shooting at nighttime. However, if it cannot be avoided, just make sure that proper lightings are present in taking pictures. Another tip would be to take multiple shots of your subject in different angles. This would make your image flexible when suddenly you need to make changes in your layout.

The Layout
The easiest way to layout a postcard is to have a ready-made postcard template. These are readily available online and are most commonly offered for free. Having a postcard template would finish half of your job and make for a cheap postcard printing. You only need to fill in the gaps in the template, and add some design details.

Also, you can take advantage of some software that can come in handy with your postcard project. You can use software like Adobe Photoshop to edit, resize or crop your images. With Photoshop, you can also adjust other settings to make a better-looking picture.

Printing
If you own a decent printer at home or in the office, go ahead and print them there. You can save a lot of money and effort in doing this, especially if only a few copies are printed out. But if you are going for a mass but still cheap postcard printing, it is better for you to look for an online company who will serve you. Your prints may be available in a few days.

In the end, you should have made an original postcard. Let your creativity lead you to better places.

What basic gear do i need to start in photography as a hobby? Any good non-SLR dig. cameras to look for?

I want to get into digital photography as a hobby, mostly taking pictures of nature and small objects to display online (like an ebay picture only much better :).) I would like suggestions for a digital camera that is at least 7 mp. I've seen 10.2 in non-SLR and am willing to pay for it, so any suggestions? I don't have the money to buy an SLR, although I'd like because I want to do this as a hobby and it seams that all my hobbies end up being outrageously expensive. My career is too. Do I need to worry about changing lenses on non-slr cameras? What are the items that will make my hobby enjoyable, besides the camera of course? any not so expensive, but decent photo editing/storing software around or below $100? thanks

I'm loving my Canon Powershot SD950-IS and Photoshop Elements. The camera is about $350 and the P.E. is under $100. If you want more user control, although it's via menus and not dials, consider the Canon Powershot A650-IS, which is about $300.

SD950: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/518213-REG/Canon_2083B001_Powershot_SD950_IS_Digital.html
A650: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/518215-REG/Canon_2089B001_PowerShot_A650_IS_Digital.html

Photoshop Elements, $50 after rebate: http://www.amazon.com/Adobe-29230727-Photoshop-Elements-6/dp/B000UKBIEC/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=software&qid=1217396206&sr=8-1

This is a great deal on the software, which is normally $99.

Here are my own samples taken with the SD950-IS and processed with Photoshop Elements 5.0.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/samfeinstein/tags/sd950is/

More from the similar SD900:

The A650-IS should give similar results, because it has the same sensor and image processor.

Photography pleez HELP ME!!!!?

hey everyone!
well i have a regular digital camera nothing fancy, just what you use to take pictures on vacation.

i was taking some pictures with it and i saw that if i added some effects (to make it look as if it were from a fancier camera) the pictures would look amazing!

so i want to know if anyone knows the name of an online software that is FREE thats could possibly provide the effects and programs for the pictures:]

a software that could do this for example:

http://i37.tinypic.com/24zjeiv.jpg

see the lighting and the shadows?

okay thanks!

and ill be sure to pc a best answer by the end of today or tommorow morning!

That picture doesn't look fancy at all. (Or amazing.) Just turn off the flash and have a bright light source on one side.

Picasa is free, so is Gimp but a lot harder to get the hang of. Adobe Photoshop Elements is a good program to buy. No program will make an "amazing" picture from a mediocre snapshot. Your best bet to improve your images would be to take a class, or pick up a beginner's book on photography and start to learn some technical and artistic stuff. Then practice what you learn.

Software For Photo Editing

1
software for photo editing

Best Free Photo Editing Software

Half of the fun of shooting digital pictures is to edit the photo using software to get the best result you want. There are many good software programs from simple to advanced that can help any amateur photographer for free. Here are my top choices for no cost software photo editors, based on the type of changes you might want to use.

Ifranview - Best known for viewing but also has editing capabilities.

Extremely easy to learn and use for basic editing like cropping, color adjustments, special effects, and file formats. It was first published in 1995 and if you just want to crop and rotate, change the file type, or adjust the color balance of a picture, this is a good tool. Extremely simple but and easy to learn than more complicated image editors. It is small, fast on any computer, and also has a great slide viewer too.

Photoscape - Extensive capabilities and small learning curve

If you need pixel editing features and other advanced editing tasks, Photoscape is a great choice. With tons of different features and also quick to learn. Photoscape has different modules for various editing tasks that include a viewer, editor, batch processor, converter, print layout tool, screen capture, combining photos and even a search function using face recognition. This is an excellent photo editor for children and beginners.

GIMP - Steep learning curve but very high-end features

For amateurs who need some serious editing photos power, GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) is a raster graphics editor, provides very sophisticated features. Like the commercial software Adobe Photoshop, you can perform many tasks with sophisticated editing in GIMP. In development since 1995, this software is available on virtually any platform, including Mac OS. The features are extensive which means that there is somewhat of a stiff learning curve too. But for dedicated amateurs, it is an excellent choice and can provide many of the same abilities of popular and expensive commercial software for photo editing. But there are a ton of tutorials and forums that can help get a new user up to speed quickly.

Picasa - Google's Photo Editor and Also A Online Sharing Version

If you want to both edit and share your photos online, Google has an online application called Picasa that can do both. One of Google's new applications created in recent years, Picasa has many features and is very easy to learn and use. You can edit your pictures, then organize them into web albums and share them with friends and family online with Picasa Web Albums application. It also gives you a great way to safeguard important photos just in case your home computer loses your original copies. You can also order prints and even elements with printed pictures for gifts.

All the above software has the basics and can provide the novice with a free solution for digital photo editing. You can find their website by searching by name in Google (too many links to put in the article). All the software has great support and it is fairly easy to find answers to questions online. Some offer tutorials, some did not even need tutorials since they are so easy to learn and use.

With the holiday season fast approaching, it is time to grab the digital camera and start taking photos. Even if you don't always get the perfect shot, you can go and make changes or improvements using one of these free photo software editors.

What is the easiest/best photography software to use?

I am a stay-at-home mother of three, and I take a lot of pictures. I also cannot afford a professional photographer to take all their milestone pictures for me, so I'd like to know which software is the easiest (idiot-friendly) to use myself. I know nothing of editing, but I know what I want to do with my pictures, I just don't know how. I bought something called Photo-Explosion, and even after reading the manual, I still don't understand a thing. Please help me!

The best is Adobe Photoshop, but it is pretty expensive. Thats why they made Photoshop Elements. Not too hard to use if you try some tutorials online.

Is there a good software that can edit photographs as well as create business type web pages?

I am looking for a software that can easily handle both the editing of my digital photos of the products I sell as well as help me create professional looking web pages. Is Adobe Photoshop or Dreamweaver good at doing this or something else? I don't want anything too dificult to learn how to use.
