Here are the pros and cons to using both digital and print photography.

The Pros of Digital
Digital cameras are great for most people.  Perhaps the best thing about a digital camera is that you have instant access to the pictures you have taken. When you use a digital camera, you can immediately see the picture that you just took and determine whether or not you need to re-shoot that particular subject.  In addition, when you take digital pictures, you can easily download the prints to your computer. You can store your pictures, enhance them and print them on your printer. In addition, digital prints make for easy storage. You can shoot thousands of digital pictures and store them on a couple of disk. Compare that to the boxes of printed pictures that you probably have in your home.

The Cons of Digital
There are many cons of using digital as well. For example, digital pictures are easily lost. Digital photography on canvas art?

I recently went to art show. One of exhibit had huge panoramic canvas pictures of landscape photos (taken with a digital camera). Up close the pictures looked like oil paintings, but they were actually digital photos printed on this canvas as art. These pictures were nice & huge. There were panoramic style and were about 30" x 48" (2.5 ft x 4 ft). The canvas was attached to a wooden stretcher frame for direct hanging on a wall w/o need for a frame. I was wondering if anyone knew any more on this subject. Is there a special name for this process of digital photography onto canvas art? What kind of printer is used? Where do you get the pictures developed? What else is needed for this process? Starting costs? Where can I go for additional information on this subject?

I just saw this stuff in the photography exhibits at the Amon Carter Museum in Ft. Worth and asked about it. Apparently it is a fairly new technique. Now if I can remember the name - Ciba

Best Digital Photographic Printer?

(please excuse my ignorance)
I was wondering if anyone could offer any advice towards which photographic printer I should buy. I am studying photography at college and need a high quality printer for my final photographs.
Due to internet reviews it seems the clear choice is between canon or epson but I am unsure.
I was also wondering if anyone knows if you are able to print your photographs with a small white border, as all of the printers advertise printing up to the edge of the paper. Also can you print a4 on an a3+ printer?

Most printers will print borderless these days- even the really cheap £20 odd ones. As for a manufacturer, then Canon for me are the best make of printers. If you are studying photography can you perhaps ask your lecturer for a suggestion of one? This should be something he/she is well up on.

in metro manila,particularly in mandaluyong city,are there schools offering digital printing and photography couses which dont take too long?what are the schools,if there are?tnx...

Don't know about the Philippines, but here in the USA, most community colleges offer photography courses, and they are usually cheap.
