Photo Editing & Special Effects Software?

Hi, I would like to know what is the best software that I can edit digital photos and add special effects all in one package? I am looking to get into photography and I was looking at a friends wedding album and saw some pretty neat photography tricks (their picture in a glass bowl, the background blurred out, a black & white photo of them in the park except the tree had red leaves, etc.). I don't care of the cost, I just want the best program with the most features. Recomedations are much appreciated! Thanks!

Well if you read any photo journals you see everyone using Photoshop. It probably the most used program for fixing up pictures. It has a pretty good learning curve and it is a complex program to use. It is also pretty expensive. i finally got it, but am still learning how to use it effectivly.

You could try its little brother Photoshop Essentials. Its under $100 and does a lot. One thing I know it is missing is layers and I find layers one of the better features to have when modifying pictures.

Corel sells a product call Paint Shop Pro. I've been using this for several years with a lot of success. I've been able take photoshop tutorials and duplicate the stuff in PSP, so it has most of the features, though I'm sure not all, that Photoshop has. It is about $100.

I would use PSP before I would used Expression. But if money is no object then I would suggest getting Photoshop. There are a lot more tutorials for doing thing in Photoshop than in Paint Shop Pro and like I said, if you read any photo magazines, that's what you'll hear everyone talking about.

What is the best digital photography software?

Looking to purchase some digital photography software that help you to edit pictures perfectly. Suggestions???

For retouching and post production, Photoshop CS5 is the industry standard.

With the thrust of this question, I will guess you are not planning on spending $1,000 on software and are not a student who can buy that software in the student store for under $200

Adobe does make an entry level Photoshop called Elements and it sells for under $80

Photographers use an Adobe program called Lightroom 3, $300 or in the student store for $100.

Lightroom is a workflow tool and to process RAW files

i dont got the money to buy expensive SLR Camera like nikon. any suggested digital camera i should buy for my fashion photoshoot?

If you don't have the money for the camera you need to shoot fashion or any other professional photography, you may want to either buy a good 35 mm Nikon SLR with standard zoom lens and start shooting with it or just wait until you can afford the tools you need.

35 mm SLR's are nearly the same in operation as a DSLR and can perform all the tasks that the new DSLR's do today. After all, for the past 40 years or so, we did not have digital cameras and shot fashion and other advertising assignments quite well.

You can buy a good Nikon 35 mm SLR with lens for under $200 on craigslist ... usually less.

Forget using a P&S camera for any photography that requires split second shooting ... P&S cameras have what is called shutter lag and it is measured in seconds, from about 0.5 seconds to over three when a flash is involved. SLR and DSLR cameras measure what little lag they have in milliseconds.

It sounds like you have a fashion shoot planned, but you have no equipment and by your question, no experience either.

You may want to cool your jets and at least take a class or two in photography first and learn how to use a camera and what techniques are required to expose, compose and light fashion.

The big boys that shoot fashion use cameras that start at $10,000 and top out at around $40,000 because they already have the lenses they need from the film bodies they have been using for the past ten to fifteen years.

best photography laptop debate /comments?

im a club photographer, i have a dell laptop. i would like all thoughts on what would make the best laptiop for digital photography . meaning best hardware specs best editing software that runs the smoothest . and also any models that are currently out and why . mac vs pc who wins and why.
camera not in discussion. but i agree.

Mac wins for me ! Along with photoshop for my photography :)
I just find macs easier to use and that they screw up less.

But without a good camera I don't think it would really matter.
