What is the BEST type of lighting for indoor fashion photography?

I currently use a digital Canon Eos rebel XT, a white backdrop and two umbrellas with spiral bulbs (35w 120v 5500k). I haven't been able to take a picture without getting a shadow on one side of my model and sometimes the pictures come out a blue color. i tried taping a piece of tissue over the camera's flash and moving the lights around but that didn't really help. I was wondering if there was another type of light fixture that i should be looking in to. I want my pictures to be completely clear and crisp showing all the details of the clothing i am trying to photograph. does anyone have any advice for me? thanks!

Try this with what you have...turn off your flash, use the one umbrella light right over your shoulder and use the other one without the umbrella between the subject and background. Custom white balance for your lights. Let me know if that helps you.
