Looking to get into photography.. film or digital? and what camera is best?
I have recently become interested in photography.. mainly animals/horses. I'm in need of a new camera, and I have no idea what to get. I know that I want a camera with a sports setting (i.e. getting several shots of a horse jumping) and is film photography too complex for an amateur? Thanks!
also.. when you have a film camera, what is the process to getting your photos devolped? (I'm very new at this..)
i agree with the answer that chris gave, you get to see the results right away insted of waiting to see what u did and trying to remember exactly how and what and where it was with film. i have a ricoh 35 mm, my dad owns 2 bronica etrs's, he has a Canon 40D and I have a Canon D30 both digital, the cost of the film is also another deciding fact, film is costly, not that a pro digital camera isn't, but you have to get it developed unless you develop it yourself which can still get costly when you have to buy the chemicals and trays along with enlargers and the meters for the darkroom, but with the digitalis all you need is a memory card, depending on the camera its either a compact flash or SD, some even have some built in memory, a computer and possibly some sort of photo editing software and a card reader. with the kind of pictures you want to take, the horses jumping you will need a high speed camera with a compact flash which is a high speed memory card, i would suggest digital they seem better for beginners, even though film has some advantages that you can't take advantage of with digital, my suggestion to youwouldd be a digital Canon,an older one or Rebel XS or rebel XSI, check craigslist.com (thats where i got my D30 for really cheap) the Canon's in my opinion are just simple to use and work very well. I hope i was of some help for you.
