Infrared Photography With A Digital Camera

I want to buy a DSLR and I have a few questions?

I've been shooting all my life but in films and I've decided to made the switch to digital for fun.

I was wondering, can you do macros, infrared, macros with a DSLR?
I don't want a camera with already made settings like beach, indoor, outdoor. I know photography enough to do that on my own.
What's a good camera to start? I have a budget of about 500$ and I'm looking for something with a lot of ISO choices.

Thank you.

All the other answers addressed your concerns except for the infrared. No, a DSLR cannot do infrared without being modified to do it. You can buy filters and do Photoshop tricks to try to LOOK like true infrared, but to me, that all looks exactly like what it is.... fake. The camera will have to be modified to shoot true infrared, but the problem is, that is then all it can shoot. Most people who want to do true infrared with a DSLR will have an older model camera modified rather than "ruining" a new camera.
