1 Can I use Car lights/bulbs as lighting for photography?
I'm completely new to photography, and I've only just been learning tips and tricks off the net. At the moment I'm looking for cheap options for equipment. If I connected a car headlight halogen bulb (preferably in the reflective casing) to a 12v source and set it up, on full beam, with a reflection umbrella, will this suffice for at least a single light source setup? Has anybody tried this?
You CAN use ANYTHING for a light source. Even the moon if you want. The trick is getting your exposure and white balance to match it. You can do this, but I suggest you get a light meter for exposure settings and not knowing the temp of the light(s), you will need to do a custom white balance in the camera or use a grey card for reference, shoot in RAW, then adjust against the grey card.
If you are shooting film, you may need something like an 80A filter with daylight balanced film to get close to the correct color.

A well-ironed background screen cloth properly masks the selected image at the background. A photographer should deploy a high quality camera that focuses a subject clearly. A clearly focused subject and background image makes a picture attractive. After taking the picture, you can then replace the background image digitally.
A photograph can use overlay effects. To use overlay effects you need to capture and record an image. Edit the image and merge it with your photograph. Example, if you want to show your subject sitting in the midst of flowers, you can merge the picture of flowers around the subject. You can also make a subject invisible by covering his face with the cloth of a blue or green color that you use in the background. One can even make a person giant by making the buildings or other surroundings small digitally. A person can even use a cloning effect by taking two separate images of a subject. You can use the second image in the background in such a way so that these two images together give a cloning effect. There are many other effects that you can use with chroma key photography and make extensive use of creativity.

If one were to go through the history of photography and image editing, it would be quite interesting to know that ‘enhancing' an image has always been done ever since the technology of photography evolved. In days when huge portraits of kings and queens were made, things were not too different.
The Idea of Image Editing
When man invented colors, he found himself writing and painting. Painting is even more primitive than the art of writing. Paintings discovered from the pre-historic sites suggest all this and more. Paintings were an effective medium of transmitting the history of ages back then. Writing evolved much later. When painting developed to an extent where an exact portrait of an individual could be made, then started the real work of image editing. Earlier days, black and white photography prevailed and hence giving finishing touches to the pictures was a little easier. After reading this, such painters would vehemently contest their work, though!
Then came the digital age and further improvement of photography was apparent. Computers were used to make software that would help professionals work on images and edit them the way they wanted to. Graphics and editing became a full-fledged career. And it is no secret today that even the top professional photographers in the world use image-editing software.
Adding the ‘Oomph' Factor
If you always wondered on seeing high-resolution crystal clear photographs in magazines and on the internet that perhaps that was a work of a master photographer, then you should know that the master photographers are also master image editors! There is no doubt about the fact that some images are just too good to be true, however most of the editing work is done in portrait based photos! 1 what kind of digital slr camera should i get, any tips?
so i usually take my pictures with my digital camera, but i've decided to move on and get a more professional camera. i guess i'd be looking for a interchangeable-lens digital SLR or something? i'm almost completely new to this more.. professional side of photography, so could someone give me photography tips and point me in the right direction when it comes to buying a camera? nothing TOO expensive, i mean, i'm still pretty young. :) thank youss
yeah it depends on your budget. For one thing if it says camera body that means the camera doesn't come with the lens. The starter lens most cameras come with are usually good for id say stuff youve done with your old camera. I would recommend something better for distance shots such as 300mm or larger.
Personally from experience i find canon and nikon to be the best. I would suggest a canon rebel or a nikon d60 to you but what you really should do is go to a camera store with the intension to do research and play with a few cameras. If you find one thats interests you then ask questions then research that model on the internet. you tube has some really good reviews and cameta camera had some really good prices.
