A Quick Review of the Nokia N97 Mini

This is not the Old N97, this is the Mini

If you own the original Nokia N97, then you be feeling a little left behind with the new mobile devices coming out this year. For good reason too, most of the newer smart phones are jam packed with high spec features that will make antiques out of the older models. Fortunately, Nokia has not left the N97 series without a much needed update; enter the Nokia N97 Mini, a phone that looks like a smaller version of the N97 but is faster and better in every aspect. It sports features not previously available on N97 that focuses on its connectivity and GPS capabilities. Of course, the best thing about the Mini is that it is more compact and lighter than the original N97.

The Overview of the Mobile Phone

To give a quick overview, the N97 Mini is a smart phone with side tilt, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, a 3.2” touch screen display, a battery with excellent life, a 5 mega pixel camera with dual LED flash and Carl Zeiss Tessar lens; and that is just stating what is obvious when you get you hands on the unit itself. Aside from these specs that can be easily seen from the external features, the N97 packs a whole lot more inside. The processor is pretty good and is able to handle the Symbian operating system fast and easy. You get A-GPS coverage with Ovi Shop updates for the most up to date maps, aside from other interesting applications which make use of the GPS features of course.

Up Close with the N97 Features

Five mega pixels is plenty for the average user. Any higher and you might want to consider getting a digital single lens reflex camera instead. While there are camera phones that have up to 12 mega pixel lenses, they are rarely useful for professional photography. As is it is, five mega pixels provides enough resolution for everyday use photos. You can print these in high quality detail up to 4R sizes. The auto focus and LED flash makes taking clear photos easy to do. Just do not expect this humble phone to shoot award winning images for you.

The phone also has 8GB of storage, and that is plenty enough to store videos of your favorite shows to watch on the go. Video playback is easy with the built in media player, not to mention the battery life will last you several hours of continuous video playback. As music player, this mobile phone will last for a whole day, just plug in your favorite speakers on the 3.5mm head phone jack on the side and you are ready to go. With excellent features, specially designed Facebook software, great battery and solid design, Nokia has done very well with the Nokia N97 Mini.
