What photo-editing software would you recomend?

I am just starting out with my photography business and I am in the market to buy some editing software. Right now I use Paint Shop Pro and Picasa. I would love to step it up a bit, but I don't have a ton of money to spend. I'm looking for something I could possibly get off ebay for around $150 or so. Does anyone have any suggestions?

If you arent planning on doing anything extreme with the photos lightroom could you by just fine

or you could go for photoshop elements

If you need the full scope of being able to completely edit your photos beyond simple changes you would need photoshop which is pretty pricey, but worth every penny

once you have it you can upgrade to the newest version when they come out for a fraction of the cost
