How do I make my digital shots look like film?

I can't express enough how much I love analog photography! There's just something about film that gives a picture character.
I shoot with my Canon AE-1 a lot but it's just too expensive to develop film.

So Answers, what is the secret to achieve pseudo-film pictures through a digital camera? What settings should one use on a dslr?

The closest to the real thing is the real thing - film.
Shoot film and scan the negatives - that is cheap.
Also, when you shoot film, you tend to think what you do, you do not waste as many shots as with digital.
