Editing Photo Software

What is a good photo editing software for mac?

I recently got a macbook and I need some photo-editing software for it. I need something similar to Adobe photoshop or Coral Paint shop. Something that has the same features. Preferably if it was sold in the mac app store or if there is a free download/trial I could get. I need something affordable. Please help.
