What's a good digital camera for someone who is starting photography? ?

I am going to do a photography course and would like to know what digital camera to get, something that is affordable but yet does a professional job!

I know they will teach me all this when I start, but just doing some research at the moment ;)

Oh, does anyone know of any other good photography courses/institutions out there (an affordable one)? I live in Sydney metro.

Thanks.

Actually for learning photography, buying a good used Nikon or Canon 35 mm SLR is a better tool. For that reason, most schools that offer photography, start the student using film. For this reason, you may want to find your class first before you spend over $600 for a DSLR and lens.

When learning any skill, it is a slow process of learning all the major components necessary to get the basics and more time and patience honing those skills.

Perhaps the greatest drawback to attempting to learn "photography" using a digital system is the difficulty in troubleshooting exposure, focusing or camera movement cannot be addressed when the user just deletes the problem. With a roll of film, all the mistakes and misconceptions are right there and usually a student will shoot the roll of film and after development and contacting the negatives, "see" the results for the first time. Nothing can be deleted, so the complete process can be examined by the student and instructor and the resulting discussion is instrumental in rapid understanding of the strengths and weaknesses as the student progresses. Further when the student attempts to print negatives that are exposed improperly or over or under developed, they learn quickly why it is so important to get the exposure as close to perfect as possible. The next roll of film they shoot is usually much more accurate then exposed by the student and more care is usually taken when developing, so the second or third assignments can be printed with less darkroom manipulation necessary.

That said, here is a link to the most popular entry level DSLR camera and lens combination.

Beautiful Wedding Photography for Your Special Day

It is important for the chosen wedding photographer to be equipped with the necessary skills to capture all shots worth taking. Opportunities can range from simple, organized family pictures taken after the ceremony to lively, dynamic, candid pictures. A lot of planning is usually involved on the part of the photographer. For example, the lighting, camera, tripods, and other equipments need to be arranged.

Most wedding photographers offer similar packages but photography skills can differ significantly. Some of the products/services being offered include:

  • Indoor photography (pictures taken during the ceremony itself)

  • Outdoor photography (pictures taken during outside trips)

  • Traditional and photo journalistic shots

  • Photo Albums

  • Other digital prints (e.g. formal studio pictures and slide shows)

Professional Wedding Photography

"Take a picture. It lasts longer". True enough, pictures can seal memories that are worth remembering and happen only once in a lifetime. Photography is an art. Wedding photography is like a masterpiece. It captures the bride and groom as they are and tells of their love story. To clearly differentiate photography and good wedding photography, good wedding photography has flexibility and creativity as the main goals – there are very few rules to follow but the end result should be stunningly beautiful images.

Having professional photographers take care of the wedding pictures for you don't only mean less pressure on your friends, it also means the memories made during the wedding are carefully preserved. The wedding photographer can capture some of the most memorable experiences of your life in clear and sharp images. Professional photographers also ensure that only attractive sides and poses of your profile are taken.

Though the wedding itself and the companion of guests already provide all the memories you'll ever need, leaving the work to the professional photographers adds a certain flair. Of course, nothing completes a good set of wedding photos like adding frames or styles upon request. There is no denying that photography is the perfect form of artwork you would want on your wedding day.
