When there's more than around 12x optical zoom however, it usually requires a larger lens which can only be accommodated by having a camera body of greater volume. Lenses with a high level of optical zoom also tend to be more expensive as they are more complex. So, if you are looking for a very small camera to take with you everywhere, you may have to settle for a smaller amount of optical zoom, especially on a budget.
