Photo Presentation Software

I am new to Mac and I wanted to know the best software's for the following applications?

1.writing CD's and DVD's.
2.guarding the computer from viruses and spy wares.
3.typing texts
4.making presentations
5.photo editing
6.web browsing
7.compressing files
8.watching media(films, etc ...)

And if I missed anything in my list, I would be more than happy to know if there is anything else.
For example in writing DVD's there are many softwares including DVD2one, popcorn ...

1.writing CD's and DVD's.
- Like someone already said, OS X has a CD/DVD burner built in but if you're looking for quality software, Roxio Toast is the way forward.

- Never say never. ClamXav is popular OS X virus scanner. Get your copy free of charge:

- If you mean word processing, then you can use Pages or MS Word for Mac. A good, free alternative is NeoOffice.

- Has to be an application called Keynote, included with Apple's iWork suite.

- Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, Gimp.

- VLC - This is a great media player that plays almost anything you throw at it.
