Digital Bird Photography

How can I find which camera is best for me?

I would love to get into photography. I been taking so many pics with my reg little digital camera but its no where near professional quality. A friend of mine who is a photographer suggested a cannon rebel xt 8 megapixel. I would just like other peoples opinions. Most of the pictures I take are outside especially in forests. But I also do indoor abstract shots. When I want to take a picture with my current camera and I push the button down it always takes 3-8 seconds to finally snap the picture. by then the birds or rabbits, etc are gone or have moved. Anyways any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thank you. :)

You can't go wrong with Cannon. or Nikon. or a Sony with a nice lense.
Remember, optical zoom is more important than digital zoom.
Look for a higher optical zoom. (higher is better=better lense)
Read reviews on Amazon, and maybe search for some photography forums.
You will definately want to get one with a rechargable battery pack, as most cameras run through batteries pretty quickly.
The Rebel is a nice camera.
Also take a look at the Nikon D40.
Good luck.
