Photography 101 question about timer ?
HI i'm just getting into cameras and photography. I want a camera that can take a succession of pictures on a timer. I think it needs a device called an intravalometer.
Do all cameras have intravalometers? Can all modern digital cameras take,. say 10 pictures in a row if set from timer ?
what is the best camera with what i am looking for ?
No, very few of them do. You have two choices, buy a camera that has a timer feature - there are a few - or buy a third party remote trigger with that feature built in. They can be bought from a number of sources on eBay without much cost or difficulty. If you stick to eBay seller who have a good feedback and a few years of history you are pretty safe.
If you go to http://www.dpreview.com you can search for cameras with the timer feature or just for a camera that appeals and has provision for a remote shutter release and buy a fully programmable shutter release to suit. They are a little more sophisticated than the old style, they can be programmed for far more than just a set interval.
The one I use has a proximity sensor and a day/night sensor. It can turn on a dusk or dawn and start triggering either once it is triggered by movement or to the program I set.
