6 Most Popular Photo Editing Softwares

Photo editing software offers image editing that is based upon bitmaps that allow you to create graphics, and enhance photos. If you are a novice at photo editing, it is important to look for software that is intuitive and easy to learn. Also keep in mind, as your skill level increases you will want to make sure that the software will be flexible enough to let you do more advanced operations.

Adobe Photoshop:
This software is the industry standard. It is a necessity if you are going to be editing pictures for business or as a profession. It is also perfect for a novice who has a bit more experience and wants to advance their skills. It is, however, the most expensive photo editing software on the market. Because it has the most options and gives you the most flexibility it can be a bit overwhelming for those just starting out. There are a number of great third party plug-ins and actions available that will allow you to get some very interesting results.

Adobe Photoshop Elements:
This software has many of the powerful tools and features of Photoshop for a fraction of the price. Two great advantages of this software that make it a real pleasure to use are the photo organization and sharing projects. While it is designed more for novices, it can work very well for experts too.

Adobe Photoshop Lightroom:
The newest software added to the Adobe family, Lightroom is made for picture processing, organizing, archiving and sharing. It doesn't matter if you are a beginner or an expert; all the tools in this program are very easy to use and will allow you to get wonderful results. This program streamlines the process of taking pictures; starting with the moment you take the picture to editing to finally sharing your images on the web or in print.

Corel PhotoImpact:
Corel has created software that comes with literally hundreds of presets. These presets are just one click away, giving the novice a chance to be creative and make photos that look professional. This software is still advanced enough for the more experienced users with needs that are of a more professional level.

Corel Paint Shop Pro:
This is designed for advanced novices. It features advanced editors that give more flexibility than PhotoImpact. It is more difficult to master but if you start with PhotoImpact, than the transition to Paint Shop Pro will be very affable. The extra learning time will be well worth it when you use the great tools it has to produce professional looking pictures.

Corel Painter:
Like its name implies, Painter is not really a photo editor. Rather, it is an artistic tool. It is the most sophisticated and diverse of painting tools on the market. It has more than any other photo editing software by far. It also has a few photo enhancement features, automation features, Web graphics capabilities, and great choices of other tools you will not find anywhere else.

If the program is very simple to use but cannot create what is needed, then you just wasted both your time and money. Once you get more adept at editing photos with the software you choose, you can always switch to more advanced software. Just be prepared for another learning curve.
