Compatible Lens for a Canon EOS 10D Digital Camera?
I just bought a used Canon 10D Camera three weeks ago.
I'm shopping for a good wide angle or all round lens around $600. That my budget.
My photography is shooting people/fashion, cityscapes....more artistic photography.
But I'm not sure what lens are compatible with my 10D.
I would prefer Canon lenses.
But I will consider Tamron lenses too.
If there any other Canon 10D owners out there please I need help.
I'm at wits end on what lens to get.
Help!
According to Canons website, the 10D is compatible with all EF lenses. That is to say all autofocus lenses that are NOT EF-s, where as the EF-s or EFs lenses are for smaller digital mounts (later EOS models took the EF and EFs lenses).
In simple english, your camera will take all of Canon's 35mm autofocus film lenses just fine. As for the third party lenses you want to avoid "for digital mount" or "not for film".
I do not own a 10D and this camera may very well work with an EF-s lens, but from what I saw on the website it doesnt.
As for specific lenses my favorite for the money is the Canon Normal EF 50mm f/1.8 II Autofocus Lens. Its pretty sharp and is really good in low light due to the f/1.8.
A pretty good all around near and far lens is the Canon Zoom Normal-Telephoto EF 55-200mm f/4.5-5.6 USM II Autofocus Lens. I do not own this one and cant make any comments on the quality of it.
And Sigma makes a 28-300mm lens.
All of these are under $300, you could get a few of them if you wanted.
