Bird photography from window device Two way Digital photography ?
I want to photograph birds secretly from my window on my roof garden without scaring them !!! Martin
There are several ways you can do this.
One is to use one of the newer cameras, like the Canon 40D or 1D Mark III, that allow for a wireless transmitter to be hooked to it. Then you safely put the camera where you want it and you can control and see the shots from a computer! Works great. Kind of a pain to first set the whole thing up, but once you got it done, its GREAT!!!
2nd option and less costly is if you have a good digital Camera, a DSLR you can use what called a pair of Pocket Wizards. One will be your shutter release and the other triggers the camera. I have done this also and works well. Shoot the Iditarod this way part of the time having one on my main camera and useing it to trigger when the other camera should fire.
3rd option, depending how far away the place you want to put the camera is, is just a really long corded shutter release. My buddy has a 30 ft one for his Canon 30D, and it works well. He will use it when eh wants to set is camera in the yard and focus on the hummingbird feeder and then sits back n relaxs and when the hummer's come to feed he starts taking pictures.
Hope this helps. Happy shooting
