What is the best editing software for videos?
I would really love to start making good videos.
I already do, But the only editing software I use is "Windows Movie Maker"
And it's really not good.
Is there anything I can download for free?
I was thinking about buying Sony Vegas Pro 9 editing software, Should I?
Most freeware video editors aren't going to get you much past Movie Maker. The answer depends on the money you're willing to spend.
Sony Vegas is a good choice for a budget, but if you're looking for something that can do what you want now and in the future (especially if you're looking at doing editing for hire) you're going to want at least Adobe Premiere Pro, (currently CS4). It's expensive, but between that and Adobe After Effects, if you invest the time you can take anything you film and turn it into a broadcast quality production. This is especially important if you're going to do HD videos.
That said if you're just looking at editing as a hobby, I wouldn't even go that high. Sony Vegas would be the upper limit, splurge on it, or get something more basic like from Ulead or Pinnacle.
