Im 20 years old and want to become a crime scene photographer, what qualifications are needed?

I currently have a ND in photography and now in my 2nd year of my BA photography, im not a person who loves csi programmes etc my sistor is a police officer so i know how tough it can be with gore etc she dosent know who to ask when i need info, all i really want to know is if i have to start as a police officer and specialise in photography or i need further education i can do lighting meter appetures on film or digital, have my own kit i just dont know what to do next...... cheers

I don't know of any departments that have specific people that do nothing but photograph crime scenes.

You would have to become a police officer, spend 3-5 years in patrol, and then move to a crime scene unit where you would not just take pictures, but also collect evidence, etc. on crime scenes.
