buying a DSLR, just want some more opinions.?
hi,
i'm starting to really like photography,
and i want to upgrade from film into digital.
(i started with film because it was cheaper to begin with ($40 vs $1200))
it might be a while before i do actually purchase a DSLR, but i am looking at possible candidates now anyway.
because i'm still quite an amateur photographer, and only do it as a hobby, i'm only really looking into the lower end of the market. plus i'm still in high school so the price is a bit important.
i narrowed it down to a canon 1000d with a twin lens kit, (roughly $899AU) or a nikon d3000 with a twin lens kit. (roughly $869AU). i like the idea of live view, but i dont know if i'd use it much in practice. plus, my friend would kill me if i got a canon, but i use a canon now and i like the results compared to her nikon.
i was wondering if you could just offer me some opinions, tips, etc etc.
I am generally a Nikon person, but between these two particular cameras, I'd pick the Canon due to the sensor being a CMOS sensor.
See what you think in this comparison: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/nikond3000/page19.asp
and this: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/nikond3000/page21.asp It's fairly close, especially in RAW - if you know how to use that. The Canon is definitely better in high ISO: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/nikond3000/page23.asp
