Beginners Photography Course

Where do I begin with photography?

I have decided that I would like to take up photography but really am starting from scratch. I have found a beginners course to go on but I am stuck as to what type of camera to get. I would be grateful for any advice please. I guess really I am looking for a good starter camera.

What about a film SLR. Cameras are quite cheap, and so is BW film. It's also a doddle to develop at home.

The camera will cost you £50 and the developing tank and chemicals another £20. Film can be as little as £1 a roll.

Have a look at a Nikon FM2 and 50mm lens, or a Canon A-1 and 50mm lens, they shouldn't cost you too much. Shoot on Neopan 400, or anything from Ilford, all of which is really easy to process, something I'll do when I have half an hour spare, maybe while watching football.
