How can you take a good portrait with a digital camera?
I am in this club on Deviantart.com, and the theme this month is portraits. It needs to be photography. I really enjoy taking pictures, and am wondering if anybody has any good advice on how to take a good picture of people. Please help, all advice is appriciated!
What Pooky said.
And find someone with a really interesting face to photograph.
Unless you're already expert with lighting, I'd suggest that you shoot outdoors, early or late in the day, and play with shadows, different points of view, a variety of expressions.
A portrait is just a head & shoulders picture of a person (or, I suppose, an animal).
What happens if your model is hanging upside down in a tree, or if you're lying on your back shooting straight up at their face (nose hair and all!)?
Or (if, for example, it's your little brother) what if you tell them to close their eyes and take a deep breath. Then you yell really loud and snap the picture at the same time?
Is that too cruel? Yeah, I guess it is.
Anyhow, you get the point.
Just be sure not to hurt anyone or break any laws in the creative pursuit of your shot.
